# Biocompatible Materials Testing

**Biocompatible Dental Materials Testing** is a specialized diagnostic process that identifies specific dental substances your immune system may react to before they are placed in your mouth. At **Collective Health Society** in Centennial, CO, we eliminate the guesswork from your dental care. Serving the entire **Denver Metro** area, we use scientific verification to ensure every material we use supports your unique biology for optimal long-term health.

## Scientific Certainty

## 100%

Personalized to your unique immune profile.

## 94

Different chemical groups screened in standard panels.

## 0

Guesswork involved in selecting your dental materials.

## Why Testing Protects You

Dental materials are implanted in your body 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For sensitive individuals, even common materials like titanium or specific composite resins can trigger chronic inflammation, fatigue, or skin rashes.

Materials testing is the only way to scientifically predict how your immune system will respond. We recommend this testing for patients who:

- Have a history of multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS)
- Suffer from autoimmune diseases
- Have experienced allergic reactions to jewelry or metals
- Are planning extensive dental revisions
- Want to ensure the highest level of systemic safety

We serve patients from across Denver who need absolute confidence in their dental care.

## Benefits of Pre-Testing

### Avoid Immune Reactivity

By identifying reactive materials beforehand, we prevent the “trial and error” approach that can lead to failed treatments, chronic inflammation, or the need for expensive re-treatment later.

### Data-Driven Decisions

We don’t just guess what’s safe; we know. Your test results provide a detailed report classifying thousands of dental products as “Highly Reactive,” “Moderately Reactive,” or “Safe” for your specific body.

### Peace of Mind

Knowing that the materials in your mouth are biologically compatible with your immune system provides profound peace of mind, especially for those who have struggled with unexplained health issues in the past.

## Our Testing Methods

We partner with the world’s leading laboratories to offer the most accurate and comprehensive biocompatibility panels available.

### Clifford Materials Reactivity Testing (CMRT)

A comprehensive blood serum test that screens for antibodies against over 90 different chemical groups found in dental products. It produces a report cross-referencing thousands of specific brand-name dental materials.

### MELISA® Testing

The MELISA (Memory Lymphocyte Immunostimulation Assay) test is a scientifically proven blood test used to detect type IV hypersensitivity (delayed allergy) to metals like mercury, titanium, nickel, and gold.

### Genetic Susceptibility Testing

We can test for specific genetic markers, such as ApoE genotype, which may influence your body’s ability to detoxify heavy metals like mercury. This helps us tailor your treatment and detox protocols.

### Titanium Sensitivity Check

While titanium is common in implants, a significant percentage of the population is sensitive to it. We test specifically for titanium reactivity before placing any implants, offering Zirconia as a metal-free alternative.

### Composite Resin Compatibility

Composite fillings contain various resins, dyes, and fillers. Testing helps us identify exactly which brand of composite is safest for you, avoiding common irritants like Bis-GMA or specific dyes.

### Anesthetic Sensitivity

Some patients react poorly to the preservatives (like sulfites) or epinephrine found in common local anesthetics. Biocompatibility testing can help identify the safest numbing agents for your procedures.

### Cement & Adhesive Testing

The glues used to bond crowns and veneers are often overlooked sources of irritation. We test these underlying bonding agents to ensure the entire restoration is safe, not just the outer ceramic.

### Biocompatible Zirconia Verification

For patients needing crowns or implants, we verify that your body tolerates Zirconia ceramic, ensuring that your long-term restoration will not cause gum recession or inflammation.

## The Testing

## Process

1

## Consultation & Kit Collection

During your initial consultation, we discuss your health history. If testing is recommended, we provide you with a specialized kit to have your blood drawn at a local lab.

2

## Laboratory Analysis

Your serum sample is sent to a specialized immunological laboratory where it is exposed to various dental antigens to measure your immune system’s specific antibody response.

3

## Report Review

Once we receive the detailed report (usually within 2 weeks), Dr. Katie Lee reviews the findings with you, identifying exactly which materials are “Safe” (green light) and which must be avoided.

4

## Safe Treatment Planning

We update your patient file with your safe materials list. Moving forward, every filling, crown, or cement used in your care will be cross-referenced against your personal compatibility report.
