Digital X-Rays:
Low-Radiation Imaging
Digital X-Rays are an advanced diagnostic technology that uses electronic sensors instead of film to capture high-definition images of your teeth and jaw with minimal radiation exposure. At Collective Health Society in Centennial, CO, we utilize this eco-friendly technology to detect hidden issues early while prioritizing your safety. Serving the entire Denver Metro area, we believe that seeing the full picture is the first step toward whole-body health.

The Biological Perspective
As biological dentists, we adhere to the ALARA principle (As Low As Reasonably Achievable). We only take X-rays when necessary for diagnosis, never routinely without cause.
However, seeing below the surface is critical. Many oral health issues are invisible to the naked eye. Digital imaging allows us to identify root causes of systemic illness, including:
- Hidden decay between teeth
- Bone loss from gum disease
- Silent infections (abscesses) at the root tip
- Failing root canals
- Cysts, tumors, and impacted teeth
We serve patients from across Denver who value a cautious, safety-first approach to diagnostics.
Benefits of
Digital Imaging
Reduced Radiation
Digital sensors are incredibly sensitive, requiring far less radiation to produce an image than traditional film. This protects your thyroid and cellular health.
Enhanced Detail
Digital images can be zoomed, contrasted, and color-coded on a large screen. This allows us to see tiny fractures or early decay that might be missed on small film chips.
Environmentally Friendly
Traditional X-rays require toxic developing chemicals and lead foil backers that end up in landfills. Digital X-rays eliminate this waste entirely, aligning with our eco-conscious values.
Our Imaging Protocol
We use a suite of advanced diagnostic tools to ensure we get the right image the first time.
Intraoral Sensors
We use sensors with rounded corners for maximum comfort. These capture detailed images of individual teeth to check for cavities and bone levels.
Digital Panoramic
This wide-view image shows the entire mouth, jawjoints (TMJ), and sinuses in a single shot, perfect for evaluating wisdom teeth or overall jaw health.
Lead Aprons & Collars
Your safety is paramount. We use protective lead aprons and thyroid collars for every patient, regardless of the low radiation dose of our digital equipment.
Caries Detection Aid
We use software enhancements to help visualize interproximal decay (cavities between teeth) at its earliest stages, allowing for remineralization instead of drilling.
Instant Review
Because there is no developing time, the images appear instantly on the chairside monitor. We review them with you immediately, explaining exactly what we see.
Secure Digital Records
Your images are stored securely in your digital file. They can be easily emailed to specialists or insurance companies, saving time and paper.
Integration with 3D CBCT
For complex cases, standard digital X-rays can be cross-referenced with our 3D Cone Beam scans for a complete, 360-degree view of your anatomy.
Pediatric Settings
Our equipment has specific low-dose settings for children, ensuring we use the absolute minimum radiation necessary to monitor their developing smiles.
The Imaging
Experience
Protection First
We place a protective lead apron and thyroid collar on you to shield vital tissues from any scatter radiation.
Sensor Placement
A small, comfortable sensor is placed in your mouth. We use positioning holders to ensure we get the perfect angle quickly.
Instant Capture
The image is taken in a fraction of a second and appears immediately on the screen in front of you.
Co-Discovery
Dr. Katie Lee enlarges the image and walks you through the findings, pointing out any areas of concern so you fully understand your health.
