NightLase® Laser Therapy for Snoring & Airway Health
NightLase® is a state-of-the-art, non-invasive laser procedure that naturally tightens the tissues of the airway to reduce snoring and support healthier breathing during sleep—including some cases in which airway narrowing contributes to mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). At Collective Health Society in Centennial, Colorado, we use Fotona’s advanced Er:YAG laser technology to stimulate your body’s natural ability to generate collagen, enlarging the airway without surgery, chemicals, or oral appliances. Serving patients from across the Denver Metro Area, our biological approach to mouth/body health aims to help you get the deep, restorative sleep you need—and deserve.

The Biological Airway Connection
Snoring and OSA often involve the soft tissues of the throat and palate that relax too much during sleep. This can narrow the airway. The tissues may vibrate as air moves past them, creating the familiar sound of snoring. In some cases, the airway can partially collapse and interrupt normal breathing.
Biological dentistry focuses on supporting the body’s natural structure and function rather than relying only on external devices. NightLase uses carefully controlled laser energy to gently warm the airway tissues, which causes existing collagen fibers to contract. It also stimulates neocollagenesis—the body’s process of creating new collagen. Over time, that new collagen helps the tissues become firmer and more stable, supporting a more open airway during sleep.
Research and clinical experience suggest this process may support:
- A naturally wider, firmer airway
- Lower snoring intensity and frequency
- Better airflow and oxygen levels during sleep
- Improvements in some measures associated with OSA, such as the apnea–hypopnea index (AHI)
- More restorative sleep for both patients and their partners
Increasingly, more researchers are looking at NightLase® therapy in patients with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. Because the treatment works by strengthening collagen structure in the tissues that help keep the airway open during sleep, several clinical studies have explored its role in improving sleep-disordered breathing. These have shown a 65% to 85% reduction in snoring intensity, along with improvements in AHI values by an average of 66.3%.
Benefits of
NightLase
Reduced Device Dependency
For some patients, strengthening the tissues that support the airway can bring a greater sense of freedom when it comes time to sleep. By improving airway stability, NightLase may help reduce reliance on sleep devices and can also work alongside CPAP or oral appliances to support more comfortable, restorative sleep.
No Anesthesia Required
NightLase is a very gentle treatment. Because no tissue is cut or removed, there’s no need for shots or numbing gels. All you’ll feel is a mild warming sensation.
Zero Downtime
Compared with surgical airway procedures such as UPPP, which can involve weeks of recovery, NightLase allows patients to return to normal activities right away. Most are able to eat, drink, and speak comfortably the same day.
Advanced Laser Science
How the Fotona Er:YAG laser transforms airway health at a cellular level.
Er:YAG Laser Energy
The Fotona laser utilizes a specific Er:YAG wavelength optimized for penetrating the mucosal tissues of the mouth safely, delivering therapeutic heat exactly where it is needed without damaging the surface.
Fotona SMOOTH® Mode
The proprietary SMOOTH® mode pulse characteristics of the Fotona laser ensure that the temperature of the tissue is heated safely and effectively, never reaching the threshold of pain or ablation (burning).
Neocollagenesis
The gentle heat pulses trigger the body's natural healing cascade. Over the course of the treatment protocol, fibroblasts are stimulated to produce fresh, strong, and highly elastic collagen fibers.
Tissue Shrinkage
As new collagen forms, the tissues of the soft palate, uvula, and base of the tongue gradually tighten and contract. This subtle retraction can create more space in the airway.
Systemic Oxygenation
By helping keep the airway more open during sleep, NightLase can support steadier airflow through the night. Many patients report improved sleep quality and reduced daytime fatigue as breathing during sleep becomes easier.
A Sleep Support Alternative
For some patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea—or for those who find CPAP hard to tolerate—NightLase may offer another way to support airway health and nighttime breathing.
Holistic Integration
We often combine NightLase with other biological therapies, such as myofunctional exercises to retrain the tongue and other mouth muscles. This can help provide long-term airway support.
Lasting Results
The improvements NightLase can bring typically last from six months to a year. Depending on your individual needs, periodic touch-up treatments may help maintain airway support.
The Treatment
Protocol
Airway Assessment
We evaluate your airway anatomy and sleep history to confirm you are a candidate for NightLase. We may recommend an at-home sleep test to establish baseline data.
Laser Sessions
All treatment sessions require only about 20 minutes of chair time. The laser light is directed at the back of the throat. You will feel a mild, warm sensation and can resume normal activities immediately.
Building Collagen
The full protocol consists of 3 to 6 short, comfortable sessions spaced about 21 days apart. This precise schedule optimizes your body's biological collagen-building process.
Ongoing Maintenance
Many patients experience significant relief, with results lasting from 6 months to 1 year. Depending on the severity of your condition, we recommend a 1-year or semi-annual retreatment to maintain your newly strengthened airway tissues.
