Obstructive Sleep Apnea:
Airway Health
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a serious condition where the airway collapses during sleep, cutting off oxygen to the brain and body. At Collective Health Society in Centennial, CO, we treat OSA as a critical airway health issue, not just a snoring problem. Serving the entire Denver Metro area, we offer effective, non-invasive oral appliance therapies to keep your airway open, ensuring you—and your partner—get the restorative sleep you deserve.
The Hidden Health Crisis
80%
Of moderate to severe sleep apnea cases remain undiagnosed.
3x
Increased risk of stroke for patients with untreated apnea.
90%
Success rate of oral appliance therapy for mild-moderate OSA.
The Oxygen-Deprivation Cascade
When your airway collapses at night, your body enters a “fight or flight” panic mode hundreds of times while you sleep. This chronic stress and lack of oxygen wreaks havoc on your systemic health.
Biological dentistry recognizes that an open airway is the foundation of life. Untreated OSA is directly linked to:
- High blood pressure & heart disease
- Type 2 Diabetes & metabolic syndrome
- Chronic fatigue, brain fog & memory loss
- Weight gain & hormonal imbalance
- Teeth grinding (Bruxism) – the body’s attempt to open the airway
We invite patients from across Denver to discover effective, non-CPAP solutions for better sleep and better health.
Benefits of
Airway Therapy
Restorative Sleep
Imagine waking up feeling truly rested. By keeping the airway open, our therapies allow you to reach the deep, restorative stages of sleep (REM and Deep Sleep) essential for cellular repair.
Systemic Recovery
Treating apnea reduces the strain on your heart and lowers inflammation body-wide. Many patients see improvements in blood pressure, mood stability, and immune function.
Comfortable Alternatives
Many patients cannot tolerate the noise, mask, and hoses of a CPAP machine. Our custom dental appliances are small, silent, portable, and easy to wear—leading to much better compliance.
Airway Focused Solutions
We offer a range of modern therapies tailored to the severity of your condition and your personal comfort.
Home Sleep Testing (HST)
Diagnosis begins in the comfort of your own bed. We provide easy-to-use, clinical-grade testing devices that monitor your oxygen levels, heart rate, and breathing events overnight.
Oral Appliance Therapy
For mild to moderate apnea, we design a custom mandibular advancement device. It fits like a nightguard and gently holds the lower jaw forward, preventing the tongue from blocking the airway.
Solea® Sleep / NightLase
We use gentle laser energy to tighten the collagen in the soft palate tissues. This reduces the vibrations that cause snoring and opens the airway, with no surgery or downtime.
Myofunctional Therapy
Think of it as "physical therapy" for your mouth. We prescribe exercises to tone and strengthen the muscles of the tongue and throat, helping to maintain an open airway naturally.
Collaborative Care
We work closely with sleep physicians and ENTs in the Denver area. If your condition is severe, we coordinate care to ensure you receive the comprehensive medical attention you need.
Frenectomy (Tongue-Tie Release)
A restricted tongue (tongue-tie) can sit low in the mouth and block the airway. We use lasers to gently release the tissue, allowing the tongue to rest properly in the roof of the mouth.
Nutrition & Lifestyle
Inflammation affects airway tissues. We guide you on anti-inflammatory nutrition and sleep hygiene practices that support clearer breathing and better rest.
The Treatment
Journey
Screening & Consultation
We start with a detailed airway assessment, including 3D imaging (CBCT) to visualize the airway volume and a physical exam of the throat and jaw.
Diagnostic Testing
You take home a sleep test kit for one or two nights. A board-certified sleep physician analyzes the data to provide an official diagnosis of OSA or snoring.
Custom Appliance Plan
If you are a candidate for oral appliance therapy, we take digital impressions to fabricate a precision device that fits comfortably and effective.
Optimization & Follow-Up
We adjust the device over several visits to maximize airway opening (titration). We then re-test to confirm your sleep apnea is effectively managed.
